John Kerry Will Be New Secretary Of State, But What Do You Know About Him?

There have been rumblings that Senator Kerry was in the running for Secretary of Defense for the last month or so, but it seems now that Obama will nominate him for Secretary of State. Since we were all duped by Obama in 08 because no one knew anything about him, I’ve decided to dig a little on Kerry.

John Forbes Kerry was born in Denver, CO in 1943. He grew up in Europe, living in Berlin until going to a Swiss boarding school at age 11. After getting his B.A. at Yale he served in the Navy as a Lieutenant from 1966-1970.

Sen. Kerry served in Vietnam as a gunboat officer on the Mekong Delta, and was awarded the Silver Star, and the Bronze Star, but left the fight early after receiving his third Purple Heart. His third was what you may call a “Band-Aid” Purple Heart, that is, it was just a little scratch. Most of the brave men who fought in Vietnam, after getting two Purple Hearts would ignore a small wound so that they could stay and fight with their brothers-in-arms. That would be the honorable thing to do.

Kerry on the other hand leaped at the chance to get outta dodge. Not only did he take his out, when he got home he joined the VVAW. (Vietnam Veterans Against the War) He left the fight and actually said that American soldiers were more of a threat to America than Communism. He called our soldiers terrorists.

When campaigning for the Democrat candidate for governor of California in 2006 Kerry had this to say about our military

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Basically calling anyone who joins the military stupid.

Back in 1971 he made headlines at a D.C. protest for throwing his medals over the fence to the Capital lawn. This makes him sound like a real anti-war guy and someone who holds fast to his beliefs. The fact that he later admitted that the medals were not his own, may diminish that impression.

After one unsuccessful run for Congress in 1972 he went on to become a lawyer. He has had five terms in the Senate and one failed presidential campaign since, and to this day continues to be a real douche.
